Ben Maher
Benjamin Richard “Ben” Maher (Enfield, 30 January 1983) is a British international show jumper. He began riding at the age of eight competing in pony classes. He was trained by Liz Edgar and then he moved to Switzerland, when he stayed for two years riding for Beat Mandli. During his participation at the international showjumping competitions he obtained a lot of successes: three team gold medals in the Pony European Championship (1993, 1997) and young riders (1994); and one team bronze medal at the Madrid European Championship. Finally in 2008 he was named in the British team at the Summer Olympic Games of Beijing and at the European Championship of Windsor. He won the Olympic team gold medal at the Olympic Games of London in 2012, and in 2013, he also won the individual silver medal, and the team gold medal in the European Championship of Herning. During the same year he won the LGCT London Grand Prix with Cella. In 2016 he participated at the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro and at the Victory Rolex Grand Prix of Wellington. Awards: After the Olympic team gold medal in London, he was named MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his equestrian successes, By The Queen Elizabeth.
